Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya Krishnaraj Rai was born in November 1, 1973 on Mangalore, India. The Queen of Bollywood”, Aishwarya born into a traditional south Indian family. Her father, Krishnanaraj Rai is a marine biologist and her mother, Vrinda Rai, a writer, she has one brother, Aditya Ray, who is an engineer and also co-produced one of Aishwarya’s movies.
After she was born her family moved to Mumbai where she attended the Arya Vidya Mandir high school in Santa Cruz. In her high school times her favourite subject in school was Zoology and she wanted to study medicine but she end up taking architecture major in Jai Hind College.
She starts modelling very soon and made her first commercial for Camlin pencils when she was just in the 9th grade and besides her architecture major she follow her true passion which was modelling and she quickly became one of India’s most famous models appearing in Vogue Magazine and landing a prestigious Pepsi campaign.
In 1994 she won the Miss World title and this victory was just the beginning of her successful career, in this same year she won the “Miss Photogenic” award.
In only seven years she made over fifty music videos. Despite the fact that she is adorned with jewellery in her music videos and movies, she is apparently not too fond of it, except watches, she really loves collecting them. But her career doesn’t resume to modelling or music videos, in fact, she is a wonderful actress and this fact made her the highest paid actress in Bollywood. She made a lot of movies such as “Iruvar” in 1997 (her first movie), “Jeans” in 1998, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” in 1999, “Devdas” in 2002, “Bride & Prejudice” in 2003, “Mistress of Spices” in 2005, “The Last Legion” in 2007. She won the award of “South India’s Best Actress” three times with the movies “Jeans” (1999), “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” (2000) and Devdas (2003).
Actually, she is preparing more three movies “Jodhaa Akbar”, “Sarkar Raj” and “The Pink Panther Deux”.
Rai dated with Salman Khan, a Bollywood actor, in which she was involved in a domestic violence dispute she also dated with Vivek Oberoi, also a Bollywood actor, but she left him after his public declaration that they were dating. Now she is married to Abhishek Bachcham, an Indian actor, they married on April 20, 2007. The wedding ceremony lasted a total of three days and the press followed it like Princess Diana’s wedding.
